Union Minister Piyush Goyal held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the All India Organisation of Chemists & Druggists (AIOCD), led by President Shri J. S. Shinde, to outline strategic improvements for India’s pharmaceutical retail and distribution ecosystem.

The discussions centered on building a more robust, efficient, and transparent supply chain. Key priorities included promoting fair business practices and ensuring a level playing field for all stakeholders, from independent retail chemists to large-scale distributors.

Recognizing the vital role of technology in modern healthcare, the dialogue focused heavily on leveraging digital tools to enhance medicine accessibility while tracking supply chains to guarantee consumer safety. Additionally, the meeting addressed pathways to ease and improve regulatory compliance for small businesses within the sector.

Minister Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the pharma retail sector, which serves as the backbone of India’s healthcare delivery system. By working closely with trade bodies like the AIOCD, the ministry aims to foster an ecosystem that balances commercial growth with stringent safety standards for consumers nationwide.
