In a major step toward enhancing public health and patient safety, the Jharkhand State Pharmacy Council (JSPC) has launched a statewide initiative to simplify the reporting of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Working in alignment with its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), JSPC has mandated the prominent display of ADR reporting QR codes across the state’s healthcare network.

Under this new directive, the quick-response (QR) codes will be displayed across all pharmacy educational institutions, retail medical shops, hospitals, and pharmacies managed by registered pharmacists throughout Jharkhand. By scanning the code, consumers and healthcare professionals can instantly access the official reporting platform to log any unexpected side effects or adverse events linked to medicines.

The IPC has officially commended JSPC for its proactive execution of the agreement, noting that the initiative significantly strengthens the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). By integrating technology into everyday healthcare touchpoints, the council aims to cultivate a widespread culture of medicine safety. This streamlined reporting system is expected to provide critical data to regulatory bodies, leading to better-monitored pharmaceutical distribution and improved patient outcomes across the region.
