MSD (Merck & Co., Inc.), one of the world’s leading global life sciences companies, has officially inaugurated its new state-of-the-art Technology Centre in Hyderabad, marking a significant milestone in Telangana’s expanding life sciences and digital innovation corridor.
The inauguration reinforces Hyderabad’s position as a premier global hub that integrates deep biotechnology expertise with advanced digital technology. The new facility will leverage the unique convergence between Genome Valley’s established life sciences cluster and Hyderabad’s high-tech corridors, enabling cross-functional teams to build advanced digital, data, and technology-driven solutions for global healthcare operations.
Telangana’s end-to-end life sciences ecosystem currently encompasses more than 2,000 companies operating across active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), bulk drugs, generics, contract development and manufacturing (CDMO), vaccines, and clinical research. Under the state’s Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–30, the strategic focus has expanded from manufacturing excellence toward high-value discovery, cutting-edge R&D, and the establishment of Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
The launch of MSD’s facility aligns with the state’s trajectory to reach 100 GCCs this year building upon the 75-plus centres set up last year and projected to generate 400,000 direct and indirect high-value employment opportunities across technology and biopharma domains.
MSD’s investment in the Hyderabad Technology Centre will support the enterprise’s global mission to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines and vaccines, utilizing regional technology talent and digital capabilities to serve patients worldwide.
