Private equity firm ChrysCapital is all set to acquire a strategic stake in Linux Laboratories, a Chennai-based specialty pharmaceutical company focused on central nervous system (CNS) therapies, for approximately $60-65 million (₹600 crore), according to sources.

Under this secondary and primary capital transaction, Tata Capital Healthcare Fund will exit its entire 15% stake acquired in 2021, while ChrysCapital simultaneously acquires 20-25% ownership through a combination of secondary acquisition and primary capital infusion of 5-10%. Founders Keerthivasan K, Ananda Kumar Sundharam, and Hariharan Parameswaran currently hold 84.68% equity stake.

Linux Laboratories operates as India’s tenth largest specialty generic neuro-psychiatric pharmaceutical company, with a diversified portfolio comprising 64 brands across approximately 180 SKUs (stock keeping units) spanning neuropsychiatry, critical care, dermatology, and cardio-diabetic therapeutic segments. The company employs over 1,800 professionals across seven specialized business units.

Based on current operational trajectory, Linux is projected to achieve revenues of ₹450-500 crore and EBITDA of ₹85-90 crore by FY27, demonstrating robust unit economics in the high-margin specialty generics space. The investment reflects growing investor interest in CNS-focused pharmaceutical companies, driven by rising prevalence of neurological and psychiatric disorders across emerging markets.

ChrysCapital’s portfolio includes significant stakes in Mankind Pharma, Eris Lifesciences, and Torrent Pharmaceuticals, positioning this investment within its healthcare sector verticalization strategy targeting domestic formulation companies with demonstrated market leadership in niche therapeutic areas.

Notably, In July 2026 ChrysCapital had acquired a controlling 70.68% stake in Novartis India Limited (NIL), with major brands such as Voveran, Calcium Sandoz and Tegretol.
