The Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council (MSPC) has introduced the Pharmacist Suraksha Kavach Yojna, a welfare scheme offering ₹5 lakh financial support to the family of a registered pharmacist who dies in an unexpected accident.
Named in honour of the late Hon. Jagannathji (Appa) Sakharam Shinde, the scheme is open to all active MSPC-registered pharmacists between 18 and 60 years of age. Enrolled pharmacists must nominate a family member — a spouse, child, or parent — who becomes eligible to receive the benefit.
To receive the claim, the nominee must file the required documents with MSPC within three months of the incident. The pharmacist’s registration must remain valid both at the time of enrollment and at the time of the accident.
With over 3.80 lakh registered pharmacists across Maharashtra, this initiative marks a meaningful step toward recognising and protecting the community that serves at the frontline of public healthcare every day.
Pharmacists can enroll through the official MSPC portal at www.mspcindia.org.
