Johnson & Johnson has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Atraverse Medical, a medical device innovator focused on left-heart access technologies. The move is set to strengthen Johnson & Johnson’s position in electrophysiology and cardiac ablation, particularly in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other complex cardiac arrhythmias.

Atraverse Medical is recognized for its HOTWIRE™ radiofrequency-based transseptal access system, an advanced technology designed to enable safe, precise, and efficient access to the left atrium during catheter-based procedures. The system has already been utilized in thousands of cases, supporting improved workflow and procedural control for clinicians.

By integrating Atraverse Medical’s capabilities, Johnson & Johnson aims to enhance its MedTech portfolio and provide more comprehensive solutions for physicians managing heart rhythm disorders. The acquisition reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing innovation in cardiovascular care and addressing the growing global burden of heart disease.

Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
