In a major anti-smuggling operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Customs officials jointly seized 22,800 bottles of cough syrup at the Mahadipur border in West Bengal’s Malda district. The consignment was reportedly being transported illegally towards the international border when authorities intercepted the vehicle during routine surveillance and checking.

Officials stated that the seizure was made following specific intelligence inputs regarding suspected cross-border smuggling activities in the region. The recovered cough syrup bottles have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to identify the individuals and networks involved in the operation.

Mahadipur, a key border transit point, has witnessed several smuggling attempts in recent years, prompting enhanced vigilance by security agencies. Authorities are examining the source and intended destination of the consignment while continuing efforts to curb illegal cross-border trade and trafficking activities along the India-Bangladesh border.
