India’s food safety regulator, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has issued formal notices to multiple food brands for deceptive trade names and misleading health claims, violating the FSS Act, 2006.

Among those flagged are Emami Healthy & Tasty, Health Aid, and Healthy Choice Poha for using trade names that mislead consumers about their nutritional value. Brands like Organic Wisdom, Shine Organic, and Two Brothers Organic Farms were cited for claiming organic status without holding NPOP/PGS certification or the FSSAI Jaivik Bharat logo.

Other violations include The Health Factory’s Zero Maida bread and pizza base, which actually contain wheat gluten; Storia Juice Pomegranate, which contains only 4% pomegranate concentrate; and PLAN B Plant Based Vegan, which lacks the required vegan food endorsement in its FSSAI licence.

FSSAI’s crackdown signals heightened scrutiny of misleading wellness branding across Indian food markets.
