In a major crackdown on pharmaceutical fraud, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled an alleged counterfeit drug syndicate involved in the manufacturing and distribution of fake medicines worth nearly ₹10 crore. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the operation, which reportedly supplied counterfeit drugs used for the treatment of cancer, liver disorders, hepatitis, diabetes, and other serious health conditions.
During raids conducted in Delhi, officials seized thousands of fake capsules and tablets, packaging materials, labels, and machinery allegedly used to replicate branded medicines. Preliminary investigations suggest the network operated across multiple states, raising concerns over the growing circulation of counterfeit medicines within the healthcare supply chain.
Authorities are also probing possible links to illegal diversion of genuine medicines and financial irregularities connected to the racket. The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stronger regulatory oversight and stricter monitoring to safeguard patient safety and public health.
