Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda held a virtual review meeting with West Bengal officials to assess the state’s healthcare systems and discuss ways to strengthen delivery of major public health programmes. The meeting focused on effective implementation of the National Health Mission, Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, immunisation efforts, maternal and child healthcare, and improving access to quality medical services across the state.
During the review, the Centre reaffirmed its support for strengthening healthcare infrastructure in West Bengal and highlighted the importance of faster execution of priority health initiatives. A sum of ₹527.58 crore has been released as the first tranche from the state’s NHM allocation of ₹3,505.59 crore.
Key discussions also covered the nationwide HPV vaccination campaign, the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and collaboration on Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. Both the Centre and the state reaffirmed their commitment to improving affordable, accessible and quality healthcare for people across West Bengal.
