Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India continues to fortify its commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare. In a landmark move to strengthen the nation’s pharmaceutical ecosystem, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has signed two transformative Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hajipur.

The partnership between IPC and PMBI is designed to enhance the quality assurance and safety of medicines distributed through the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan aushadhi Pariyojana (PM BJP). Partnering with NIPER Hajipur will accelerate the development of standards for biologics, biosimilars, and gene therapies, while tackling critical safety issues like genotoxic impurity profiling. Joint research will target genotoxic impurities, such as nitrosamines. By correlating this with ADR data, the institutions aim to establish stricter, evidence-based pharmacopoeial limits. Development of PvPI QR codes across thousands of Jan Aushadhi outlets, the IPC is making adverse drug reaction reporting more accessible than ever for the common citizen.

The agreement includes faculty exchange programs, sharing of advanced analytical instrumentation, and the joint publication of research papers and training manuals along with providing internship and fellowship opportunities for pharmacy graduates and postgraduates to foster the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists By bridging the gap between quality regulation, affordable distribution, and cutting-edge science, the IPC continues to solidify India’s global standing as a leader in pharmaceutical integrity.
