Acting on a tip-off, the Northern Regional Office of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India raided a food storage unit run by a private firm in Bijwasan, South-West Delhi. Officers found the operator allegedly stripping and reprinting manufacturing dates, expiry dates and batch codes on packaged food items across several brands, alongside non-food goods stored in the same space.

Investigators recovered rubber stamps, chemical solvents and printing equipment believed to have been used to forge label details. Delhi Police subsequently seized over 50,000 mislabelled packets from the site, and a formal case has been filed against the operator for fraud and tampering.

FSSAI reiterated that it will pursue strict action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 against anyone found adulterating or mislabelling food. Citizens can flag counterfeit or suspicious products via the Food Safety Connect app or the FoSCoS grievance portal at foscos.fssai.gov.in.
