FSSAI Suspends License of Rehaan Healthcare Over Severe Food Safety Violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the manufacturing license of Rehaan Healthcare with immediate effect following critical non-compliances discovered during an inspection of its Health Supplements & Nutraceutical Manufacturing Unit. The facility, which produces digestive syrups, multivitamin syrups, and other syrup-based health products, received an overall compliance score of just 12%, signaling a severe failure to meet standard food safety and manufacturing provisions.

Inspectors uncovered alarming hygiene and structural lapses throughout the unit. These included sediments of filth and sludge accumulated beneath manufacturing tanks, spider webs, mould growth, flies, insects, and exposed food waste within the production area.

The unit also failed to provide a valid drinking water test report and suffered from poor ventilation, lighting, and widespread pest infestation. Because health supplements are high-risk products frequently consumed by children and vulnerable groups, the authority determined that these unhygienic conditions posed an imminent threat to public health. FSSAI has ordered RehaanHealthcare to immediately cease all business operations until every deficiency is rectified and verified by competent authorities, warning that any breach will face strict legal prosecution under the FSS Act, 2006.
