NITI Aayog has unveiled a new policy blueprint aimed at elevating Ayurveda’s standing on the world stage, developed jointly with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) through the Health Division’s research initiative. Unveiled by Vice Chairman Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri alongside senior figures from the Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of External Affairs, the document charts a course extending toward 2047, in step with the broader Viksit Bharat vision.

Built around three pillars — Availability, Acceptability, and Propagation — the plan tackles workforce expansion, export growth, scientific research, education standards, regulatory harmonization, insurance recognition, and stronger international partnerships. Officials described the effort as more than a commercial push, framing it instead as a chance to embed India’s traditional medicine expertise into global health systems while generating jobs and economic returns.

The roadmap also nods to the “One Earth, One Health” philosophy, positioning Ayurveda as a credible, evidence-driven alternative within international wellness and healthcare frameworks in the decades ahead.
