On September 24, 2025, Tuesday at Bayana Community Health Centre, Rajasthan, a senior doctor’s attempt to reassure anxious parents ended in crisis as Dr Tarachand Yogi. The Centres in charge publicly consumed a dose of a cough syrup to demonstrate it. Safety was later found unconscious in his car.The syrup has been linked to multiple tragedies. Causing the death of two-year-old Samrat Jatav from Bharatpur, Samrat’s grandmother reported that three of her grandchildren were given this medication, out of which to survive after vomiting, but Samrat could not make it and Sikar, just two days later, passed away after receiving the syrup at the local health facility. Following the incident, the state government prohibited 22 batches of syrup, recalling any remaining stock and initiating an investigation. It is said that at least eight other children from ages 1-5, reportedly fell ill in the Banswara district. In response, the government has recalled over 1.33 lakh bottles and instructed doctors straight way to immediately stop prescribing the formulation.
