In a major strike against illegal drug trafficking, a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (UP FSDA) and the Ghaziabad Crime Branch has busted a massive counterfeit pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Dehradun, seizing spurious drugs estimated to be worth between ₹5 crore and ₹7 crore.

Acting on intelligence gathered from earlier raids in Lucknowand Ghaziabad, law enforcement officials stormed the manufacturing facility located in the Devi Pur area along New Highway Road, Dehradun. The illicit factory was allegedly producing and packaging counterfeit versions of critical medicines, misusing the brand names of leading pharmaceutical giants including Cipla, Lupin, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Sun Pharma, Abbott, Mankind Pharma, Intas Pharmaceuticals, and Zydus Lifesciences.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the fake medications were intended for widespread distribution across several districts in Uttar Pradesh through an organized interstate criminal network. FSDA Joint Commissioner Brajesh Kumar confirmed that verification and stock counting are ongoing. Authorities are actively pursuing further investigations to identify all key perpetrators and fully dismantle the supply chain.
