Operations at US-based healthcare BPO firm CorroHealth have reached a standstill after the company abruptly announced the permanent closure of its Kerala centers, plunging nearly 900 employees into sudden uncertainty.

On Friday, July 3, workers at the Kochi and Kozhikode offices were instructed to log out of their systems immediately after reporting for duty, catching the workforce entirely without prior notice. The sudden termination sparked immediate, widespread protests outside company premises, drawing heavy concern over the livelihoods of hundreds of families, particularly a large demographic of young women employees.

While CorroHealth management reportedly offered a three-month salary severance package, protesting workers have demanded a complete reversal of the decision, citing an incredibly challenging job market for immediate relocation.

Following a high-stakes intervention by Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas and regional labor representatives, preliminary discussions forced CorroHealth to place the mass layoff process on a temporary hold. A strict status quo remains enforced until Monday, July 6, when formal, high-level negotiation talks are scheduled to take place to determine an amicable resolution regarding employee rehabilitation and compensation.
