Shilpa Biologicals, the biologics arm of Raichur-based Shilpa Medicare Ltd., has formally activated its antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) drug substance manufacturing facility in Dharwad, India. The plant is currently progressing through GMP qualification protocols and is being structured to satisfy regulatory benchmarks set by both the US FDA and the European Medicines Agency.
The integrated facility covers the complete ADC drug substance workflow — from payload synthesis and linker chemistry through monoclonal antibody production, conjugation, and final purification — positioning Shilpa as a single-source partner for global biotech and pharmaceutical developers.
CEO Sridevi Khambhampaty described the launch as a natural evolution of the company’s decades-long specialization in high-potency compound manufacturing, while Managing Director Vishnukant Bhutada underscored India’s growing scientific infrastructure as a foundation for internationally competitive ADC production.
The milestone arrives as global demand for ADC manufacturing capacity intensifies, with over 400 programs in active development across the industry.
