The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a major investment to upgrade the state’s medical infrastructure and improve patient care. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhurevealed a new ₹150 crore fund dedicated entirely to modernizing laboratories and diagnostic equipment across all state-run medical colleges, including major institutions like IGMC Shimla and Dr. RPGMC Tanda.

In addition to the laboratory upgrades, the state is significantly boosting its emergency medical capabilities. The Chief Minister recently laid the foundation stone for a brand-new, ultra-modern critical care block at the Jol Sapper campus of Dr.Radhakrishnan Government Medical College. This ₹35 crore facility is being fast-tracked and is scheduled to open early next month.

To support these upgraded facilities, the government is launching a major recruitment drive to hire more doctors, specialized faculty, nurses, and support staff. This workforce expansion aims to fill existing gaps in the medical system and ensure hospitals run efficiently. Together, these steps represent a massive push by the government to make high-quality, reliable, and high-tech healthcare accessible to everyone in Himachal Pradesh.
