CCRAS Highlights Pediatric ADR Vigilance on World Patient Safety

To mark World Patient Safety Day 2025, the central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush organized a two day National Symposium on“Pharmacovigilance- Sishu Suraksha: Rashtra Suraksha” at LNIPES, Gwalior. The event,hosted through the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Gwalior in collaboration with the National Pharmacovigilance Coordination Centre for AYUSH Drugs, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, focused on strengthening vigilance against Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) in children.

The symposium was inaugurated by Prof.(Dr.) B.L. Mehra, Chairman, NCISM, New Delhi who underlined the significance of child safety in Ayurveda and lauded CCRAS for choosingsuch a timely theme. Distinguished experts including Prof.(Dr.) Rabinarayan Acharya,Director General, CCRAS; Dr. N. Srikanth, Deputy DG, CCRAS and Prof. Bejon Kumar Mishra emphasized the moral obligation of ensuring safe pediatric care and the role of pharmacovigilance in protecting young patients.

For the first time, the symposium carried NCISM approved CME credit scores. Over eight scientific sessions, more than 28 research papers and 31 posters were presented by PG/PhD scholars, faculty and research officers covering diverse aspects of pediatric safety and Ayurveda practice. Eminent academicians from reputed institutes across the country enriched the discussions with their insights.

The event was attended by over 150 Ayurveda physicians, researchers and scholars who reinforced the message for ensuring safe care for every newborn and child ensures stronger national health.
