India’s pharmaceutical exports increased by 9.3% to $30.5 billion in the financial year 2025, driven by growth in complex generics and global expansion.

Indian Pharma Companies are expanding globally through takeovers and partnerships specially in developed markets, which leads India to be the largest producer of generic medicines globally, also accounting for 20% of global supply by volume.

However India relies heavily on China for bulk drug imports, which also highlights the need to diversify supply chains and customer bases. Setback challenges of 200% tariff on pharmaceutical imports by the US , Indian companies are proactively minimizing risks.
