The Department of Pharmaceuticals announced that the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) achieved total sales of ₹2,252.19 crore in the financial year 2025–26. The widespread availability of quality generic medications through the network has resulted in estimated out-of-pocket healthcare savings of approximately ₹9,000 crore for citizens nationwide.

Operated under the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), PMBJP aims to make essential, high-quality generic drugs, surgical items, and healthcare products available at significantly lower prices compared to branded alternatives. The robust sales figures demonstrate growing public adoption of generic medicines and the widening reach of Jan Aushadhi Kendras across urban, semi-urban, and rural areas.

By drastically reducing direct medical expenses for chronic and acute conditions, the initiative continues to enhance healthcare affordability and financial protection for millions of households across the country.
