Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy hosted a high-level bilateral meeting with a South African delegation led by Deputy President Paul Mashatile to expand cooperation in pharmaceuticals, medical tourism, and skilled workforce development.
The meeting, joined by Telangana’s IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha, focused on deepening investment links between India and South Africa by leveraging Hyderabad’s mature industrial ecosystem.
CM Revanth Reddy highlighted Hyderabad’s robust skill ecosystem, noting its status as a premier hub for engineering talent across IT, Pharma, Defence, and Aerospace, and a top global destination for Fortune-500 Global Capability Centers(GCCs). The Chief Minister briefed the delegation on plans to build ‘Bharat Future City’, a world-class, net-zero greenfield infrastructure project located near the international airport.Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narsimha emphasized Hyderabad’s global dominance in vaccine and bulk drug production. The CM added that the city’s cost-effective specialized healthcare facilities continue to position it as a global hub for medical tourism.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile invited Indian pharma companies to establish manufacturing bases in South Africa to ensure universal access to affordable medicines. He noted that investing in South Africa offers Indian firms preferential, duty-free market access to the entire continent through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu formally invited South African industrialists to further engage in dialogue, marking a significant step toward connecting Telangana’s manufacturing capabilities with the rapidly growing African market.
