In a landmark development for global health diplomacy, India,Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the formal recognition of the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP).
The historic agreement was signed by the Honorable Daniel Cummings, Minister of Health for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and His Excellency Shri Subhash Prasad Gupta, High Commissioner of India. With this signing, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines becomes the 25th country to formally recognize the IP. This milestone significantly strengthens India’s position as a trusted global partner dedicated to ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines worldwide.
The mutual recognition is set to substantially impact public health by facilitating the seamless import of high-quality, safe, effective, and affordable generic medicines from India into Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Furthermore, the MoU establishes a robust framework for closer bilateral collaboration, fostering deeper partnerships across both the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors between the two nations.
