Alkem Laboratories Ltd. a leading Indian pharmaceutical company, today announced the groundbreaking launch of semaglutide in multiple dose strengths utilizing a single-shot pre-filled syringe format. Starting at an accessible price point of INR 350, Alkem is the first company in India to introduce this highly convenient, ready-to-use delivery system.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved these pre-filled syringes for the management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity as an adjunct to diet and exercise. This milestone follows Alkem’s March 2026 rollout of semaglutide injection pens, further expanding patient choice alongside upcoming semaglutide vials, which have also received regulatory clearance.

”Semaglutide has the potential to change how we manage metabolic disorders,” said Dr. Vikas Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Alkem. “With the launch of our pre-filled syringes, we are widening the choice available to doctors and patients, alongside the pen options we have already introduced. In India, where we are seeing a continuous rise in disease burden, offering multiple, practical drug delivery formats is an important step in helping more patients start and stay on the therapy.”

By offering a single-shot, pre-filled syringe, Alkem addresses critical market gaps in affordability and ease of use, making advanced metabolic therapy a viable option for a broader demographic of patients across India.
