AstraZeneca  announced a exclusive global license agreement with Dizal Pharmaceutical to develop and commercialize Zegfrovy (sunvozertinib), a highly differentiated, oral irreversible EGFR inhibitor designed for targeted lung cancer therapy.

Zegfrovy is currently approved in the United States and China for adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations, whose disease has progressed following standard platinum-based chemotherapy. Driven by positive efficacy data from the global Phase III WU-KONG28 trial, regulatory submissions are underway to expand Zegfrovy’s indication into the first-line advanced treatment setting, supported by Breakthrough Therapy Designations from both US and Chinese health authorities.

Under the terms of the transaction, AstraZeneca will make an initial upfront payment of $600 million to Dizal, with potential future development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments reaching up to $900 million, alongside tiered sales royalties. The acquisition perfectly complements AstraZeneca’s industry-leading oncology franchise, bringing a critical targeted oral option to an underserved patient population worldwide. The transaction is projected to close during the second half of 2026.
